The radio control hobbyists world ranges from the beauty and grace of a yacht to the down and dirty action of an off-road monster truck to quite large aircraft. The common factor being they are all controlled from a handheld transmitter.

Radio control models have been around since the 1950′s and getting better all the time with advances in circuit technology and battery technology allowing more dependability and control. With the miniaturisation of electronics it’s been possible to do more with less power. Modern RC models use 2.4 ghz systems making them less likely to suffer interference from other sources.

Before commiting to a purchase however there are some things to take into account and obviously these depend on the particular form of RC you are smitten with. The idea of getting airborne fast is an attractive one but without the right preparation and training it could well prove to be a short and expensive flight. It really is best to learn to fly with someone else, better still with an instructor who can start you off with a simulator before moving on to a buddy box system, which is really a dual control system, one for you the student and one for the instructor to get you out of trouble.

Same thing goes with radio controlled cars – where are you going to use them without crashing? There really is no point in getting a screaming drift car without somewhere suitable like a basketball court to use it. On the other hand such a surface would be useless to a monster truck which really needs some rough ground to shine.

Then you need to think about whether the gas or electric models are going to be right for you. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Remember that gas models tend to be more powerful and noisier but need tuning. It’s not really a big deal but a little chore to be aware of. Electric models are quiet and lighter but batteries can be expensive, even allowing for the re-use you get with rechargeables.

Don’t forget, you will need to be able to get spares too as you will have little accidents no matter how careful you are!

Talk to other hobbyists before you make your choice and talk to your local hobby shop. The guys there are always looking to talk about their hobby because they’re keen hobbyists themselves and they want to promote their hobby by bringing newcomers into their hobby, the wonderful world of radio control.

There is something about flying that excites and amazes certain people. Many people often dream of flying, but resist following that dream because it seems too difficult and too expensive. However, the excitement and dreams of flying have become a reality with radio-controlled (RC) aircraft. Actually, some of the RC aircraft today can give you the best flight of your life. If you would talk to a dedicated RC plane hobbyist, they would tell of the excitement of heading to an RC field on a warm, sunny day to fly their planes and to enjoy the camaraderie of other hobbyists and RC club members. It is always amazing to see the many different styles of aircraft and how they maneuver through the air.

Radio-controlled planes have a rich history, and provide a suitable hobby for all ages and skill levels. Flying enthusiasts have a large variety of aircraft to choose from, making the hobby more exciting for all hobbyists from the beginner to the expert. You can pick and choose what you want depending upon your taste and the available money you have to spend. Generally, the ideal choice of a particular RC plane depends upon a combination of style and pilot skill level.

For beginners, park flyers are a great choice. The term “park flyer” denotes small, primarily electric planes. They are so named because they are small enough to be flown inside public parks. The recommended aircraft for beginners is an A-R-F (Almost Ready To Fly) high-wing trainer. A-R-F planes are already built and don’t require a lot of time and building experience to get ready for flight. A-R-F planes also have fairly large wing spans (60-70 inches) which aid in better visibility and flight operation.

Purchasing any radio-controlled aircraft and trying to fly without some basic knowledge may possibly result in the destruction of the model. Flying RC aircraft is not difficult but does require some practice to become proficient enough to have your plane soar through the skies and return for a safe landing. Teaching yourself to fly is possible; however, if you find a local flying club and seek some help from the experienced flyers is the ultimate way to learn. A flight simulator can aid in learning the fundamental movements and actions of an airplane. It is an easy and convenient way to practice the simplest turns to the most complex maneuvers. It must be remembered that the flight simulator does just what it’s name implies, it simulates the actions of an airplane. The simulator is not the real thing and most planes react differently in the air.

Whether you are a kid, or just a kid at heart, flying RC aircraft is directed at anyone who wants to relax and have fun. Get involved if you want a hobby that gives you a thrill!

The price of these planes will vary and sometimes the type of airplane that you choose to buy will influence the price. This is not to say that you are creating the price hike but rather that you have chosen a popular model or one that is priced at high prices naturally.

The various radio controlled model airplanes will allow you to see the different types of power that are used for these airplanes. You have gas mixture model airplanes, jet airplanes, and others.

As you choose the radio controlled airplanes which catch your eye make sure that you are getting one that you will be able top control. This is a great way to experience the thrill of flying. With a radio controlled airplane you are the pilot.

The many different radio controlled airplanes are ones that you will enjoy looking through. from the whimsical to the futuristic there are many that you will have the opportunity of flying. The only barriers to this ease of flying are that of money and your patience.
