Have you ever noticed in the newspaper how many people complain about the noise of jets from the local airport? And have you ever considered that most of the airport at the time their first? What would you say that residential development encroached on the buffer zone the airport, as the space was enough for the city to grow? Is it really the fault of the airport, or is that merely a free market scenario, where land is cheap and available, and there is nowhere else to build but requires stringent in housing during periods of economic expansion cycle?
This whole issue is a Catch-22 because the city grew, the airport develops, and therefore there are more planes, and therefore more noise. Not long ago, I was talking to a person who lives not far from a major international airport, and their entire community would big jets taking off just above their town, especially when the wind was going a different direction, and the plane took off directly over the city.
My knowledge of note that when he was a teenager, he left the mall, and the roar thunder and an airliner wide body literally shook the ground. Interestingly, I too grew up with aircraft noise, but it was a different type. This was not a passenger air travel, and the noises were really the sound of freedom. Let me tell you.
You see, I know all about aircraft noise, I grew up on a Navy base. Of course, I loved the roar of an F-4 Phantom and got to the point, I could identify all the different aircraft by sound. Of course, the jet engines are quieter these days, and it is a good thing. I am of the opinion that we use technology to eliminate noise on takeoff sounds like it could be done in a certain number of ways, using current technology.
It seems that issues of noise reduction also cause flight models of less-than-safe during critical times in flight, as it takes off. And the buffer zone will prevent deaths on the ground in the unfortunate event of a terrible accident.
Fortunately, NASA NASA in their program of work STATS on fixing these things, and aerospace designers worldwide, and especially in the best universities in the United States are working to better design of devices to prevent noise. In addition, General Electric, Rolls-Royce Pratt & Whitney have all worked very hard to make our engines quieter, more powerful and more fuel efficient. In the future, the noise is not nearly what it was in the past, and aircraft will be safer.
